Products & materials

The products we put on your roof.

A roof isn't one product — it's a system. Here's what goes on your home, why each piece matters, and the warranty coverage that comes with it.

A system, not just shingles.

Most people shop for shingles. But shingles are only the visible layer. Underneath them sit leak barriers, deck protection, starter strip, ventilation, and ridge cap — and it's the combination that keeps water out and qualifies your roof for the strongest warranty coverage. We install the complete GAF system, not a mix of whatever's cheapest that week.

The complete roofing system

Six layers, in the order we install them.

  1. Leak barriers
Installed in the spots water actually gets in: valleys, eaves, around chimneys, skylights, and vents. Self-sealing around the nails.
  2. Roof deck protection
Covers the whole deck under the shingles. Lets trapped attic moisture escape while blocking wind-driven rain.
  3. Starter strip shingles
The first course along the eaves and rakes. Properly-adhered starter is what keeps the edges from lifting in high wind, and it's a requirement for upgraded wind warranty coverage.
  4. Shingles
The layer you picked the color of.
  5. Hip and ridge cap shingles
Purpose-made caps for the peaks. Never cut-up field shingles, which is a common corner-cut that fails early.
  6. Attic ventilation
Ridge and intake vents that move heat and moisture out of the attic. Under-ventilated attics cook shingles from below and shorten roof life.
Warranties

What's covered.

Warranty coverage

Every roof we install is covered by GAF's Shingle & Accessories Limited Warranty. As a GAF Certified contractor, we can also offer the System Plus Limited Warranty when the complete GAF system goes on your home — which is one of the reasons we install the full system rather than mixing components.

We'll walk you through exactly what your roof qualifies for and what each warranty covers before you sign anything.

Why the full system matters

Warranty coverage isn't only about which shingle you pick. The strongest coverage depends on the complete system going on — starter strip, leak barriers, deck protection, ridge cap, and ventilation, all installed to the manufacturer's specification.

That's why we quote the system rather than the shingle alone, and why we register your warranty at the end of the job instead of leaving the paperwork to you.
